Andrew H. Ralston, Jr. Elected Chairman of The Velodrome Fund, Inc.
Attorney Andrew H. Ralston, Jr., a partner at Gross McGinley, LLP, was recently elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Velodrome Fund, Inc. — a non-profit foundation that manages and operates the Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, PA.
“I am honored to be elected to serve in this position, and look forward to working with my fellow board members, Executive Director Marty Nothstein, and his great staff to uphold this institution’s legacy as the most celebrated venue in modern American cycling history, as well as continuing to develop exciting new ways in which we can connect with the people of the Lehigh Valley,” said Ralston.
He continued: “There is a wonderful combination of people who love this special place — from the Rodale’s, who remain actively involved in guiding their father’s vision; the great folks at Valley Preferred, whom we are so happy to have as our partner; our long-standing friends at Air Products and all of our other sponsors; our immediate past Chair, Hilda Patton; our important and valued relationship with the County of Lehigh; to — not by a long shot least — the true hometown hero we have in Marty. The list goes on and on. We are truly blessed.”
The Valley Preferred Cycling Center, formerly known as the Lehigh Valley Velodrome, was the brainchild and love of Bob Rodale, publisher of — among many other publications — Bicycling and Mountain Bike magazines. Over the past 39 years, the venue has hosted World Cups, Olympic trials, the Junior World Championships, and other national and international competitions. For the last several years, its Executive Director has been Marty Nothstein — the Olympic Champion, Olympic Silver medalist, and three-time world champion in Sprint and Keirin.
Ralston, the 7th generation of his family born and residing in Allentown (dating back to the 1840s) focuses his practice on insurance and medical malpractice defense litigation, commercial litigation, zoning litigation, and intellectual property litigation.
