Paralegal – Insurance Defense

Job Description

Be a part of a growing, dynamic and progressive team of professionals in our Insurance Defense Practice Group! A paralegal is needed to provide legal services for our insurance companies. Must be familiar with the litigation process and comfortable and confident with moving cases forward. This position requires an individual that is able to think and work independently and understands that their efforts are a critical part of a project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality of client matters.
  • Drafts pleadings (complaints, answers, motions, petitions, pre-trial memoranda), discovery (requests, responses, discovery motions), and demand letters
  • Prepares record and witness subpoenas, correspondence, and medical record requests.
  • Summarizes medical records, transcripts, and discovery responses.
  • Establishes, organizes and maintains timelines, document indexes, and lists, trial notebooks, exhibit, discovery, and pleadings binders.
  • Conducts research and locates cases, opinions, dockets, reports, and information related to the matter
  • Locates and may contact and interview parties, witnesses, and experts, including obtaining of written statements from witnesses
  • Attends independent medical examinations with clients
  • Performs assigned legal research tasks using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems, and utilizes computerized litigation techniques and software when applicable
  • Knowledge of electronic filing procedures for each filing entity.
  • Assists in all aspects of preparation for trial.
  • Attends trial to control and track documentation and exhibits and assists with jury analysis.
  • A minimum of two years of secondary education, Paralegal certificate, or business degree is preferred
  • Prior experience is preferred
  • Full-time position.
