Gross McGinley Presents CPE Seminar on Medicaid for Accountants

Wills, Trusts, & Estates Law Seminar

MEDICAID: The Basics

As the Baby Boomer generation ages, we more frequently find ourselves providing direction and assistance to aging clients and their families regarding the cost and payment of nursing home care as part of estate planning. For this reason, it is important to understand the financial basics of Medicaid including the financial and legal implications and of the program. Generally, how does one qualify for Medicaid , how does it work, and what can clients legally do to transfer or protect assets, if anything? We will review the  income and resource calculations relating to Medicaid eligibility for both the Institutionalized Spouse (IS) and the Community Spouse (CS) and some basic estate planning considerations that can help clients address their needs.

As May is National Elder Law Month, this is an excellent opportunity to learn how to best advise your clients of the important considerations when choosing the future of their healthcare.
