Gross McGinley Proudly Sponsored Ben Franklin Technology Partners’ Venture Idol 2014
Gross McGinley’s Intellectual Property Group was proud to sponsor Ben Franklin Technology Partners‘ Venture Idol 2014 event on Thursday, November 20, 2014. Venture Idol is a cross between Shark Tank® and American Idol®, but with great networking and food.
After earning their way through the afternoon selection process, three technology company entrepreneurs briefly pitched their start-up companies to investors and attendees. Audience members decided how to “fund” the companies. With $100 of “Ben Bucks,” each guest distributed his or her investment dollars in whole or part among the three finalists. Ben Franklin will later invest $15,000 in real dollars to the companies based on the “crowd-funded” audience vote.
This year’s Venture Idol winner was EthosGen. EthosGen produces a proprietary on-site alternative energy waste-heat-to-electrical-power generator that produces electricity from sustainable and renewable sources. EthosGen’s generator produces energy from waste heat from industrial, solar, and biomass sources. The power produced provides on-site, consistent, secure electricity in a highly sustainable and environmentally conscious manner by capturing current, emission-free waste heat streams.
Congratulations to all of the companies that participated!
