Susan Wild and Zachary Fowler Defend Client in Defamation Case
Attorneys Susan Ellis Wild and Zachary R. Fowler successfully defended a client in a defamation case involving local politicians, Otto Slozer and John Donches. Slozer and Donches claimed that their client had defamed them by merely sharing a URL link on her Facebook page. The website that corresponded with the URL allegedly contained defamatory content. Wild and Fowler filed a Motion for Summary Judgment and argued that the sharing of a URL link, without anything more, communicates only the existence of the website, and does not constitute republication of any defamatory content therein. The court agreed and dismissed all claims made against the client, with prejudice.
