Associate Attorney – Launch Your Legal Career with Gross McGinley

About Gross McGinley

At Gross McGinley, we believe your first few years of practice should be defined by more than just long hours—they should be defined by mentorship, impact, and growth. As a premier full-service firm in the Lehigh Valley, we pride ourselves on a culture where collaborative support meets high-level professional responsibility. We aren’t just looking for staff; we are looking for the next generation of firm leaders who are ready to make a real difference for our clients.

The Opportunity

We are currently expanding our team and have immediate openings for Entry-Level Associate Attorneys across our practice groups. This is a launchpad role designed for recent law school graduates who are hungry to move beyond the classroom and into the courtroom, the boardroom, and the negotiating table.

Why Start Your Career Here?

  • Meaningful Responsibility: You won’t be relegated to the back office. From day one, you will be an integral part of your practice team, working directly on active matters.
  • Structured Mentorship: You’ll be paired with experienced attorneys who are invested in your development, ensuring you gain the practical “how-to” skills that law school can’t teach.
  • Diverse Practice Exposure: Whether you have a passion for litigation, business law, or family advocacy, you will gain hands-on experience that helps you discover where you truly excel.
  • Collaborative Culture: We work hard, but we do it together. Our collegial environment means you’ll have a built-in support system that values your well-being as much as your billable hours.

What You’ll Do

  • Solve Real Problems: Conduct deep-dive legal research and craft innovative strategies for complex client matters.
  • Own the Drafting: Take the lead on drafting high-stakes pleadings, motions, and contracts.
  • Build Your Presence: Gain “first-chair” feel by participating in negotiations, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Manage Success: Master the art of case management, organizing complex files and navigating critical deadlines with professional poise.
  • Grow Constantly: Refine your skills through feedback, firm-sponsored CLEs, and regular interaction with senior counsel, partners, and firm leaders.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar or eligibility to sit for or be admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in the near future.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Westlaw or similar legal research platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A willingness to learn, accept feedback, and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Experience

While prior legal experience is not required, experience through internships, judicial clerkships, law clinics, externships, or summer associate positions is a plus.

Exposure to any of the following practice areas is beneficial but not required:

  • Civil litigation
  • Criminal law
  • Medical malpractice defense
  • Business and transactional law
  • Municipal law
  • Estate planning and administration
  • Family law
