For the third time, Gross McGinley’s Wills, Trusts and Estates Group hosted a series of free community education seminars across the Lehigh Valley during the month of May, recognized as National Elder Law Month. Attorneys James A. Ritter and Thomas A. Capehart educated the public on health care planning includingDurable Powers of Attorney and Living Wills at three separate programs held at Lower Macungie Library, Parkland Community Library, and Emmaus Public Library. Jim and Tom offered the public an overview of various planning documents individuals can use to ensure their health care wishes are carried out should they become incapacitated. They reviewed Pennsylvania’s specific laws that govern those documents and their reach.Also as a part of the firm’s Elder Law Month series, Jim Ritter presented a CPE seminar to a group of accountants and financial planners on May 23, 2017 entitled “Disposition of Qualified Plans and IRAs”. During the one-hour credited seminar, Jim provided an in-depth look at how different beneficiaries can choose to receive funds as well as the use of see-through trusts.
