Wildlands Conservancy Preserves 500 Acres of Land for Future Generations

Gross McGinley, LLP attorney Michael A. Henry recently represented Wildlands Conservancy, Inc. in its acquisition of approximately 500 acres of land at the headwaters of the Lehigh River in Wayne and Lackawanna counties, and Wildlands’ subsequent transfer of the land to the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The property contains several miles of the Lehigh River and more than 200 acres of special wetlands. It supports clean water for drinking, recreation, fishing, and boating for hundreds of thousands of residents of eastern Pennsylvania and, with the transfer to the Game Commission, will preserve this unique natural resource and will make available to the public high-quality natural habitat and recreational lands for generations to come.

The transaction posed several complexities because it involved several different parcels in 2 different counties, 3 different townships, and multiple sources of funding.

Gross McGinley is pleased to have played a part in the completion of this high-priority project supported by the Delaware River Watershed Initiative, a collaboration across four states for clean, healthy water for the ultimate protection of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers.
