Introducing Our 2019 Summer Associates

Gross McGinley’s Summer Associate Program is underway! The firm has a long history of providing summer employment to law students looking for hands-on experience in a professional law firm setting. This year, we made significant strides in revamping this effort into a more structured format. The program is designed to provide intimate learning opportunities through diverse work assignments. Our 2019 summer associates are exposed to all levels of the firm and a variety of projects. For half of the summer, our interns are dedicated to our transactional services, working with business, real estate, employment, intellectual property, and municipal attorneys. For the other half of the summer, our interns will switch to our litigation department, working with commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and insurance defense attorneys. We make a concerted effort to offer an immersive experience, allowing interns to attend client meetings, depositions, trials, and firm community events and social activities.

We are happy to introduce our two Summer Associates for 2019:

Zachary Bartman, Washington and Lee University School of Law

As a Lehigh Valley native, Zach is excited to return to the area as a summer associate in litigation and business services. He graduated from Parkland High School in 2014 and subsequently attended Gettysburg College as a Lincoln Scholar. At Gettysburg, Zach served as a Teaching Assistant and President of the Mock Trial Team and graduated cum laude in 2018. He also interned at the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, umpired baseball tournaments for six years, and started his own business on Amazon which he continues to operate. Zach recently completed his first year of law school at Washington and Lee University, where he attends on a merit scholarship. He is looking forward to refining his legal skills outside of the classroom this summer at Gross McGinley.

Rachael Shaw, Drexel’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law

Rachael just finished her first year of law school at Drexel’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law in Philadelphia. Rachael grew up right outside of the Lehigh Valley, a 2014 graduate of Boyertown Area Senior High School. She attended Washington College in Chestertown, MD on a lacrosse scholarship, playing all four years of her undergraduate career. Rachael earned her B.S. in Political Science in 2018 prior to entering law school. During her time with Gross McGinley, Rachael hopes to get exposure to different areas of law, with a focus in the business services.

Gross McGinley is also pleased to welcome an undergraduate intern who is exploring opportunities for further education in the legal field.

Ian Reilly, Susquehanna University ’18

Ian is a resident of Allentown and a graduate of Parkland High School (2014). He recently earned his B.S. in Marketing from Susquehanna University, graduating in May of 2018. While in college Ian was a member of the crew team, university choir, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. He has always had an interest in law and, thanks to Gross McGinley, has the opportunity to test the waters of the legal field before pursuing further education.
