Malcolm J. Gross, Founding Partner of Gross McGinley, LLP, has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 25th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America©. The annual publication recognizes the top legal talent in the country through a peer review process. Gross is listed for his work in the area of Media Law.

Throughout his five-decade career, Mal has taken on several cases involving the rights of the media and First Amendment issues. In the eighties and nineties, Pennsylvania adopted “Reporter’s Privilege” in addition to its “Shield Law”, grounded in the First Amendment. Newspapers, reporters, and other media outlets were fighting to gain access to information and Mal represented them in matters pertaining to defamation, subpoenas, freedom of information issues, and more.

Mal continues to lecture and write on First Amendment and Constitutional Law topics as well as the Sunshine Act. He frequently speaks to bar associations and community organizations and has taught Media and Publishing Law at Muhlenberg College (2006-present) and Cedar Crest College. Mal has authored several articles on the above topics for The Morning Call, Pennsylvania Bar Quarterly, Pennsylvania Law Journal Reporter, and Pennsylvania Lawyer Magazine. He was also published in the nationally circulated Communications and the Law.

Mal also maintains an active commercial litigation practice and is a well-respected attorney. In addition to Best Lawyershe was selected for inclusion in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers 2004, 2006, and 2013-2018 editions, reserved for the top 5 percent of Pennsylvania attorneys, and has held an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating by MartindaleHubbell® for over 30 years.

A recognized leader in the community, Mal actively serves as Chair of the Harry C. Trexler Trust Board of Trustees and on the Board of Directors for the Bar Association of Lehigh County. He is also the former President of theLehigh County Historical Society. Mal has served several organizations in the past, including the YMCA, United Way of the Lehigh Valley, Miller Blood Bank, and Da Vinci Science Center.
