Gross McGinley Partner R. Nicholas Nanovic Honored with Pennsylvania Bar Association Pro Bono Award

Gross McGinley, LLP is proud to announce that partner R. Nicholas Nanovic has been recognized with a Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Pro Bono Award for his sustained leadership in bringing the Wills for Heroes program to the Lehigh Valley. This honor reflects Nick’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that those who serve our communities have access to critical estate planning services at no cost.

Through Wills for Heroes, Nick coordinates events that provide free wills and other essential estate planning documents to first responders, veterans, and their families, allowing them to focus on their service with greater peace of mind. Under his leadership, the number of Wills for Heroes events in Lehigh County has grown to three each year, and Nick also organizes an annual event in Northampton County.

That expansion has significantly increased the program’s reach: what began as service to 44 clients annually has grown to approximately 160 or more individuals served each year, thanks to the strong participation he is able to organize from attorneys, notaries, and other volunteers across both counties. The nomination for this year’s PBA Pro Bono Award was submitted by Gabriele Miller-Wagner, PBA Statewide Coordinator for the Wills for Heroes program, underscoring the impact of Nick’s efforts within the broader Pennsylvania legal community.

At the award presentation, Immediate Past PBA President Nancy Conrad presented the Pro Bono Award to Nick, recognizing both his individual dedication and the collaborative spirit that drives this work. We are grateful to the Pennsylvania Bar Association and our local partners for supporting this important initiative and for shining a light on the difference that thoughtful, volunteer-driven legal services can make across our region.
