Code Enforcement

Decades of experience with code enforcement
Gross McGinley Lehigh Valley PA Municipal Code Enforcement Law Firm

Experienced Code Enforcement Attorneys

Two Approaches: Administrative and Civil

Our legal team employs a depth of knowledge to counsel and represent municipalities with administrative and civil approaches to code enforcement.

Administrative Process
Appropriate for non-emergency, less serious violations, this approach is less formal than criminal and civil processes. Efficient and cost-effective, this type of enforcement includes:

  • Administrative enforcement hearings
  • Citations and fines
  • Permit revocation/ modification hearings

Civil Process
Situations that include more substantial, serious violations of a municipal code may require a civil lawsuit. While a slower process than administrative code enforcement, its advantages include:

  • A lower burden of proof than criminal enforcement requires
  • Payment of civil penalties directly to the municipality
  • Legal authority to recover attorney costs and fees
