PSEA Hosts Annual Retirement Workshop

The Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) hosted its Annual Eastern Region Pre-Retirement Workshop at Bear Creek Mountain Resort. The workshop featured financial and legal professionals discussing relevant topics to teachers throughout the region. Attorney Stuart Shmookler was invited back to present on the topic of estate planning. Attendees included education professionals from Carbon, Schuylkill, Lehigh, Berks, and Northampton counties.

Stuart’s presentation entitled “Estate Planning for Retirees” included an overview the basics of estate planning and delved into the nuances of how estate plans should be adjusted as one approaches retirement. The retirement workshop session reviewed how estate assets are handled, a spouse’s rights, how the inheritance of a retirement account works, assigning financial and health care powers of attorney, and more. Stuart highlighted the importance of managing digital assets (passwords, online accounts, etc.).

Stuart provides legal counsel to individuals and business owners on estate planning matters including wills, powers of attorney, estate administration, elder law matters, and business succession planning.
