Tom Capehart Appointed Heart and Lung Hearing Officer for City of Allentown Paramedics’ Union

The City of Allentown Paramedics‘ Union (SEIU) recently approved Gross McGinley Attorney Tom Capehart as a Heart and Lung Hearing Officer. Tom has extensive experience handling PA workers’ compensation matters for both the employer/their carriers, as well as injured employees, which qualifies him to hear and determine work-related Heart and Lung issues for injured paramedics. Civic workers like police officers, firefighters and paramedics are covered by Pennsylvania’s Heart and Lung Act, providing additional benefits to workers injured in the line of duty, seeking temporary recovery assistance. The City of Allentown employs approximately 50 paramedics to staff the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) public service system, which includes ambulances dispatched 24 hours/day through an enhanced 9-1-1 communications system. Allentown paramedics respond to nearly 16,000 requests for emergency medical assistance annually.

For over 30 years, Tom Capehart has been practicing law in the Lehigh Valley. As a member of the firm’s Business Services Group and Wills, Trusts & Estates team, he specializes in creditor rights, real estate and municipal matters. Recently, Tom was named Legal Counsel for the East Penn Chamber of Commerce and the Emmaus Main Street Partners. He also serves as Solicitor for the Borough of Coopersburg and Municipal Water Authority.

Congratulations on your appointment, Tom!
