Attorneys Howard Stevens and Andrew Ralston Appointed to Board of Directors for Institute for Surgical Excellence
Attorneys Howard S. Stevens and Andrew H. Ralston, Jr. were appointed to the Advisory Board for the Institute for Surgical Excellence (ISE), a public non-profit organization dedicated to improving surgical care and patient outcomes. Stevens and Ralston are currently the only attorneys that have been asked to participate on the board.
The Institute for Surgical Excellence (ISE)’s mission is to support the implementation of safer solutions to complex surgical interventions, often involving the application of emerging technologies. ISE utilizes a systems-based approach to bring together key stakeholders to identify issues, set clearly defined goals, facilitate collaboration, assess and fill gaps, and better inform healthcare consumers.
Howard, Chair of Gross McGinley’s Medical Malpractice Defense Group, represents hospitals and health networks, as well as individual physicians, in medical malpractice claims. He is well versed in complex litigation cases, having tried scores of jury trial cases to verdict involving, among other disciplines, surgery, obstetrics, oncology, neurology, critical care medicine, and emergency medicine. Stevens also coordinates with risk managers to run thorough investigations and develop preventative measures.
Andy likewise represents hospitals and health networks, as well as individual physicians, in medical malpractice claims. He also deals with complex regulatory matters involving hospitals, handles appellate matters, and has presented legal seminars and written legal articles relevant to the medical malpractice field. Ralston also counsels clients in the medical field about how carefully crafted industry standards can both improve the care rendered to patients, and serve as a shield against liability.
